As the title says, how does halacha view the differences between different shades of base colors, and how would that apply to something tzizit, where you should have the beged and the corner as the same color?
How different can the color of the beged and the color of the strings be?

If I understood the question, strings don't need to match the corner at all.
There is no issue with "min canaf"

Sorry for the late reply, but whats the source for that? In most of the sources I've gone through, it says the strings should match the corner specifically because of min canaf. How do you get to where you are?
IIRC, there is a debate among the Rishonim whether the "white" (i.e, non techeiles) strings have to be the same colour as the beged.
IIRC, the Shulchan Aruch paskens that they have to match the beged. Whereas the Rema writes that that isn't minhag Ashkenaz. We tend to make Talliesim white anyway (at least the base colour), possibly to avoid any question.
The above debate has no connection to the techeiles strings, which should always be techeiles regardless of what colour the beged is.
