You may think the evidence for Murex Trunculus being the source of biblical techeiles is lacking but that is not what this topic is about.

:!:  Do not post anything in this topic about whether or not you find the evidence good or bad.  :!:

I think many of the Gedolim who lived before the Radziner zatzal and wrote that Techeiles will be lost until Moshiach comes and brought explanations from the revealed and hidden Torah would have changed their minds if they had read the words of the Radziner zatzal or if they had subsequently been convinced by the evidence that we have now or by other evidence.

They assumed Techeiles would be revealed along with all the other things that Eliyah HaNovi and Moshiach will reveal and found explanations for what they assumed was true then.

Before Charles Darwin, Gedolim accepted what science had to say.

An interesting proposition that remains entirely unproven.

The key words are "had they been convinced by the evidence". I think its fair to assume that had they been convinced, they would have agreed to it.
now there is an entirely different question- would they have been convinced? But that is not the subject of the this thread.

I don't think it's fair to ask "what if" questions. If Rabbonim said flat-out that Techeiles isn't until Moshiach (such as the Aruch HaShulchan) we need to assume that those opinions might or might not be changed. The only time we can assume that with better evidence the opinion would change is if the Rabbi wrote it as such. Ironically the Radzyner Rebbe did that in Sefunei Temunei Chol (p. 14, Mishor Edition), "If, after our search, we should find the blood of any type of chilazon that might exist from which we can dye a Techeiles color, a dye that is steadfast in its beauty and does not change, we will with absolute certainty and without double be able to fulfill the mitzvah of Techeiles." Yet at the same time, the current Radzyner Rebbes feel that R' Leiner must have the Siyata DiShmaya to find the right Techeiles. And in a much earlier video he compared Techeiles from other blue to chometz alcohol versus non-chometz alcohol. I'm not stating one way or another but just the facts.
